Prepare Your Safari
Tanzania offers something magical in every season — each one feels like a different chapter of the same incredible journey.
– June to October: Classic dry-season safari. Clear skies, short grasses, excellent visibility, abundant wildlife, and comfortable temperatures. Ideal for exceptional game viewing.
– December to March: Stunning golden light, vibrant landscapes, newborn animals, and big cats at their most active. A dream scenario for photographers.
– April and May: The “green season.” Lush scenery, dramatic skies, fewer visitors, and a deeply intimate safari atmosphere — perfect for travelers who value exclusivity.
At WAJA SAFARIS, your dates don’t adapt to the trip — we design the trip around your dates and your dreams.
Yes, a visa is required for travelers entering Tanzania.
You have two options:
1) The online e-Visa (recommended)
Fast, official, and usually approved within a few days.
Apply on the government website:
https://visa.immigration.go.tz/
2) Visa on arrival
Convenient if you didn’t apply in advance, but processing times vary depending on airport traffic.
We provide all the guidance you need to make the process smooth and compliant,
but the visa application must be completed directly through the official Tanzanian immigration services.
No vaccines are mandatory to enter Tanzania, except Yellow Fever if you are arriving from — or transiting through — a country where Yellow Fever is present.
Recommended (not mandatory) vaccines:
• Hepatitis A
• Typhoid
• Diphtheria–Tetanus–Polio (DTP)
• Hepatitis B (depending on your profile and trip length)

• planned activities
For personalized advice, consult a travel-medicine specialist 4–6 weeks before departure.
Tanzania experiences two rainy periods — each with its own character:
– Short rains: November to early December
Light showers, dramatic colors, and softer wildlife encounters.
– Long rains:*April to May
Lush green landscapes, atmospheric light, low visitor numbers, and a strong sense of exclusivity. Some tracks become muddy, but the experience remains authentic and immersive.
With our experienced guides, even rainy days become unforgettable.
Absolutely — it’s one of the most iconic and effortless combinations.

It’s the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation — ideal for couples, families, and luxury travelers.
We design tailor-made extensions: romantic escapes, premium retreats, exclusive properties, or pure beachside relaxation.
A safari is an extraordinary journey — and the price reflects the level of comfort and exclusivity you choose.
Key factors include:
– season of travel
– trip duration
– style of accommodation (charming camps, premium lodges, luxury retreats)
– included experiences: private game drives, exclusive moments, domestic flights, tailor-made activities
At WAJA SAFARIS, trips typically start around USD 1,390 for 3 days, then vary depending on your chosen level of exclusivity and services.
Every itinerary is a unique creation — never a standard formula.
Traveling in Tanzania
The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).
However, US dollars (USD) are widely accepted in premium lodges, hotels, tourist shops, and for tips.
Important:
Tanzania only accepts newer USD bills (usually 2009 or later).
Older or damaged notes may be refused — even in upscale properties.
Credit cards are accepted:
– in premium lodges and hotels
– in some restaurants and shops
– at airports
In remote areas, card use may be limited — keep a bit of cash in USD or TZS.
**Our recommendations:**
• Bring clean, recent small-denomination USD bills
• Use your credit card for larger expenses
• Carry some TZS for local purchases
We always advise the ideal mix of currency for your specific itinerary.

Tanzania is one of the planet’s last great wildlife sanctuaries — a land where nature unfolds with breathtaking intensity.
Depending on the season, you may witness:
• The Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the elusive rhinoceros
• The Great Migration: millions of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Serengeti plains
• Top predators: lightning-fast cheetahs, strategic spotted hyenas, lions hunting at dawn
• A rich variety of herbivores: giraffes, impalas, kudus, topis, and many more
• Water-based life: hippos, crocodiles, dramatic river scenes
• Spectacular birdlife: over 1,000 species, including endemics — rollers, eagles, ostriches, flamingos…
With our expert guides, you observe wildlife like a documentary filmmaker — with precision, respect, and unforgettable moments.
